The system is more of a Pavlovian teaching system than a punishment tool. It restricts dog's movement by issuing warning. Your dog needs to be trained to respect these warnings. For training your pet set up small flags along the boundary and with the dog on leash walk to the edge of the boundary. While the dog still on leash shake the flag and give the dog the warning, which he/she is, suppose to receive if they cross the boundary. It should be repeated several times a day for about a week or alternatively 10 minutes twice a day for 2 weeks to train your dog. This will teach the pet that they will receive a warning as they approach the flags. Once a warning is issued he or she is not suppose to cross the boundary, as now you understand training is the key. Training can effectively correct unwanted behavior, as well as establish proper behavior. And you will be the proud owner of a well-behaved pet.
